and physically? What areas do you need to develop to achieve the goals you have for yourself?
It is important for health and wellness professionals to develop psychologically because if they are themselves filled with problems or unsure of themselves how can they possible offer help to anyone else. What type of advice can they offer their clients and if they don’t believe in what they are telling their clients the client will pick up on this and most likely search for help elsewhere.
They need to be developed spiritually because it is a key element to integral healing and without it they aren’t really going to be able to fully help their clients to the best of their ability. Also they will not be able to focus on the right areas’ to help the individual’s long term.
Physically is another key element, in this day and age with so much competition available on every market you really have to make a good first impression. Most people really will not give and overweight or out of shape person a second chance at allowing them to help out. Instead they will just go to the gym next door and find the personal trainer that is in shape. Hypocrisy is a dangerous road for any professional and we should really steer clear as professionals and practice what we preach.
The goals that I need to work continue to work on but have made a lot of progress this year is being physically healthy. I have already come a long way this year and am eating a lot better and diffidently getting more than my recommended daily activity. I am working on my meditation and it has given me more patience in areas where I didn’t realize I was holding in stress. So these two things I will continue to improve and by the time I open my own spa I expect to have a perfect harmony between my physical, spiritual, and psychological self.
II Assessment:
How have you assessed your health in each domain? How do you score your wellness spiritually, physically, and psychologically? I have done an assessment and I am happy to say that I have attained a 4 in spiritual and psychological. Still some work to go with physical but it has improved from the first time and is now a 3.5. I won’t really get to a 4 or 5 in the physical until I hit my goals but I am not letting that stop me from noticing the big progress I have made.
III Goal development:
List at least one goal you have for yourself in each area, Physical, Psychological (mental health) and Spiritual. In physical I want to get to my healthy BMI and maintain it for the rest of my life, I am making progress and am positive that I have chosen the right course of action this time.
Psychological I want to have a more positive approach to how other’s live their lives and not just my own life. It may seem silly but I am really positive about things that affect me and my life but sometimes with my friends I don’t share the same enthusiasm so I really want to try and do that more.
IV Practices for personal health:
What strategies can you implement to foster growth in each of the following domains; Physical, Psychological, and Spiritual. Provide at least two examples of exercises or practices in each domain. Explain how you will implement each example.
For Physical I will continue to find reasons and ways to get my daily activity goals. I will also find the healthier foods and make healthier choices for me and my family. I can do this by doing my own grocery shopping and cooking my own meals rather than having the maids do it.
V Commitment:
How will you assess your progress or lack of progress in the next six months? What strategies can you use to assist in maintaining your long-term practices for health and wellness?
I have made great progress these last 6 months I really had a slow start and there were a lot of obstacles in my way, however through time and perseverance aided by education of my health and wellness courses I have stayed the course. I am using photos, family encouragement and the knowledge of a healthier longer life as my motivator’s. Everything I have learned and am using to change my life will greatly help me when I am educating my clients which are a bonus for everyone all around.
